Find Your Groove!
Want to learn to dance or learn a new dance?
Do you find yourself struggling on the dance floor?
You may have tried a dance class before and "failed" or felt like you have 2 left feet?
I would like to reassure you that there is no such thing as 2 left feet! Everyone can learn to dance, it's just a matter of knowing how to reach / understand each person as an individual, to figure out where they are on the dance path and move from that place. Everyone can learn to dance....in my 16 years of experience as a dance teacher I have never met anyone who could not learn to dance! I love working wih beginners.
Consider a private lesson--it's a quick and easy way to learn a new
dance or bring your favorite dance up to speed.
We offer private lessons and classes in Swing, One
Step, Blues, Zydeco, Cajun,
Waltz,Foxtrot Ballroom, among other dance forms. I love to work with individuals and
couples on body awareness and partnering skills that focus on how to
become a more powerful and capable lead or follow.

Private Lessons for Couples
Our Dance can become effortless when we each know our part! We offer the opportunity for couples to explore what gets in the way of their having a smooth and connected dance relationship. Learn to compliment each other on the dance floor while experiencing joy in your dance relationship and nurturing your life relationship in the process.
MaryLee's Private Lesson Approach
MaryLee’s teaching focus can be summarized best in two words:
connection and joy:
Connection because of her emphasis on helping students develop intuitive
connections to their partner, to the music, to their body, and to their
spirit. Dancing is so much more than a three minute encounter with another
on the dance floor…it is an opportunity to experience and learn
so much about yourself (generosity, respect, overcoming fear of failure,
playfulness, relinquishing "control", lightheartedness, etc).
Joy because all these factors, together with teaching the essentials
of dance footwork in a joyful, supportive and non-threatening environment,
combine to provide students with the foundation for a life full of fabulous
dance.
"MaryLee is the best dance teacher I’ve had in Seattle (and
there’s been many over the years!). Her enthusiasm and energy are
absolutely infectious. Her classes are a blast – she’s so
funny, approachable, warm, and supportive. Even the people most apprehensive
about starting dance lessons are quickly made to feel at ease. She makes
learning dance steps so easy. And she doesn’t bring ego to her
teaching – she’s just there for the love of dance and for
the love of her students." Susan, Seattle
